Weaving the Wielinski’s Rug | |
| Fall Project - Marti Schrichte | ||
Our autumn Outreach project is to weave a rug for Wielinski family and we are all set to start weaving. Continental Flight 3407 hit their home. Cathy McGreevy, Teri Silsby and Susan Banks cut and sewed together strips of fabric. Thank you ladies. During the Civil War Days, Cathy McGreevy measured the warp. Cathy and I dressed the loom and wove a few inches on July 25. This project will involve not only the Guild, but other members of the Western New York community, so when we demonstrate to the public we will ask everyone to weave as we usually do. There will be a book available for people to sign their names and any thoughts they wish to send to the family. Rather than have a rug woven with random color selection, Cathy, an experienced rug weaver, has designed the rug and we will have the draft at the Lavocat House. The fabric will be labeled accordingly too. |
