Center of Renewal
at Stella Niagara
Lewiston, New York
Hosted by
The Weavers Guild of Buffalo
Eastern Great Lakes Fiber Conference
EGLFC was incorporated as a not-for-profit-organization in 1981 for the purpose of promoting the fiber arts through a biennial conference. Since that time, weaving guilds throughout Western New York and Pennsylvania have committed to fulfilling that goal. Our aim is to provide a relaxing atmosphere for learning and inspiration through workshops and events of interest to weavers and fiber enthusiasts.
EGLFC 2007
This years’ conference is sponsored by Weavers’ Guild of Buffalo, in cooperation with our sister guilds, at the Center of Renewal at Stella Niagara in Lewiston, NY. This is a lovely site which is adjacent to the scenic Niagara River gorge. Your conference fees include comfortable lodging, good food, nationally known and respected instructors, a banquet, a fashion show of participant created works of fiber art, a non-wearable fiber art gallery, a day to shop from our vendors - all in a setting worthy of inspiring the creativity in all of us. This is a wonderful forum for gathering
Conference Format
Registration begins Friday evening and will continue Saturday morning. Classes begin on Saturday and will continue Sunday and Monday. There will be early morning events that you may choose to participate in before breakfast (Tai Chi, tour/discussion of Vestments of Stella Niagara) and opportunities to gather in the evenings to renew old acquaintances and meet new friends (ice breaker, banquet, fashion show, shopping and more). We have invited 6 nationally known instructors to offer learning opportunities in many facets of weaving (beginner to advanced), spinning and basketry.
Lodging
In house accommodations are simple yet comfortable. Each room has 1 or 2 single beds and a sink. Showers and bathrooms are communal. There are designated lounges for relaxing during down time. We have provided space for 10 commuters who cannot spend the night with us but who would like to participate in all other conference events. The facility is handicapped accessible with the exception of one lounge which requires going up 5 stairs.
Meals
Your conference registration provides for 8 meals beginning Saturday with breakfast and ending Monday with lunch. Dinner Friday evening will be your responsibility. All meals will be on site with the exception of the banquet Sunday evening which will be held at “Water Street Landing” in Lewiston, NY just minutes from the center. This is a lovely site overlooking the majestic Niagara River. All meals served on site will be buffet style. We will work diligently with the staff of the Center of Renewal to address your dietary restrictions and needs. You will have the opportunity to inform us of your dietary restrictions when you return your registration.
